About the School...   School Features...

North Salem Elementary is located in the northwest section of the school district in the town of North Salem.

The enrollment area is rural, with the population being the least dense of the two elementary districts. The enrollment area consists of the townships of Eel River and Union.

Regular classroom instruction is supplemented with three special subject area teachers in Physical Education, Music, and Art.

There is a resource room and support staff for Special Education, Title I Reading and ISTEP remediation.

The average class size is good, averaging 20 students. The school complies with the requirements of the Indiana Prime Time program in terms of average class size.

The staff in this building are united in their efforts and are pleased with their work assignment.

Our current Corporation enrollment is 1870 students in grades K-12.

The North Salem Elementary School building consists of two older but remodeled sections and
one new section which was completed in 2001. It is essentially a three section building serving grades K-5.

Featuring air conditioning, a large high-quality gym, pleasant cafeteria, phones in all rooms, it has a complete communications system, comfortable library and a beautiful playground.

The building is wired for technology with two 30 station computer labs, classroom computers, a lab top lab, and complete Internet access.

The school also has a full time nurse, a library aide and a technology assistant.
